Where we stand
Anyone should be able to read this site and ask for a repair, whether they use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, voice input, high zoom or a small phone screen. TrueFix Pittsburgh is working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium.
We have not had an independent audit done, so we don't claim the site fully meets that standard yet.
What we build in
- headings in a sensible order, with a single main heading on each page;
- form fields on the booking and text sign-up forms that carry labels a screen reader can announce;
- menus, links and buttons that can be reached and used from the keyboard, with a visible focus ring;
- color combinations picked to keep text readable against its background;
- text alternatives for images that carry meaning;
- layouts that adjust to narrow screens and still work when the browser is zoomed to 200%.
Where it may fall short
Some pages may still have gaps we haven't found. The interactive maps on our service-area pages come from outside map services and may be hard to use with assistive technology; the ZIP codes each map covers are also listed as ordinary links on the same page. We check pages when we change them and fix problems that people report.
Report a barrier
If something on the site stops you from getting what you need, let us know the page and what went wrong. We will work on a fix. Until it is sorted out, you can book by calling or emailing us instead.
