About TrueFix Pittsburgh
We repair household and light commercial appliances in Pittsburgh and the towns around it, at the address where they're installed. Our rule is short enough to hold us to: find the fault, tell you the price, and fix it only if you say so.
Who we are
TrueFix Pittsburgh is an in-home appliance repair service. There's no shop to haul a washer to and nothing for sale on a showroom floor. A technician comes to the kitchen, the basement or the back of the restaurant, finds out why the machine quit, and repairs it after you've agreed to the price.
The calls we get are mostly everyday failures that sound alike over the phone. A fridge that hums but won't cool. A washer that stops mid-cycle. A gas oven that clicks for ages before it lights. Each one has a handful of possible causes with very different costs, so we don't guess at a price before we've tested the appliance.
We have no tie to any manufacturer. That's why we can work on different brands in the same house, and it's also why a machine that may still be under the maker's warranty should go to the maker first.
What we repair
Kitchen and laundry appliances, gas or electric, freestanding or built in. That covers the stacked laundry pair in an apartment closet as well as the range in a remodeled kitchen. Businesses can also call us for reach-in coolers, ice makers, dish machines and commercial ranges and ovens.

Who calls us
The repair is the same for everyone. What changes is who opens the door and who says yes to the price, so we sort that out when you book.
Homeowners
Rowhouses and foursquares in the city, split-levels and ranches in the suburbs, and newer builds. Laundry is as likely to be in the basement as off the kitchen.
Home repair →Renters
If the fridge in your apartment quits, you can book the visit yourself. We'll pass the diagnosis to whoever pays and wait for their yes.
Rentals and landlords →Landlords and property managers
Duplexes, houses split into units, student rentals near the universities. Let us know who has the keys and who okays the quote.
Small businesses
Restaurants, cafés, bars, offices and apartment laundry rooms, whenever a cooler, ice machine, dish machine or range starts acting up.
Commercial service →How we treat customers
You make the call, with the facts in front of you
It's your appliance and your money. Our part is to find out what's actually wrong, explain it so it makes sense, and give you a price you can say yes or no to. The habits below all follow from that.
Find the cause before quoting
A dryer that won't heat might need an element, a fuse or just a clear vent. We test until we know which, and only then put a number on it.
Stop and ask if the job changes
You approve one described repair. Should a second problem show up once the panel is off, the work pauses until you've heard about it and agreed.
Say what the part is
We fit parts matched to your model number, from the manufacturer where we can get them. When we use an equivalent, you hear that first.
Be straight about who we are
We are an independent repair service, not any brand's authorized service center. Brand names appear here purely to show which equipment we handle.
What to expect, from booking to repair
Five steps, in the same order every time. Here's what happens at each and what we'll ask you along the way.
- 1
Call or send the form
Name the appliance and its maker and describe the symptom. If you can read the model and serial off the label, send those too so we can check parts ahead of time.
- 2
Setting the appointment
We agree on a time and write down what the technician should know: parking, steps, a basement entrance, pets, and whose sign-off we need if the bill isn't yours.
- 3
Diagnosis where the appliance sits
The technician tests the machine and everything it depends on, from the outlet and breaker to the water line, drain, vent or gas supply, until the failed part is found.
- 4
Explanation and quote
You hear what broke, the likely reason, and the price of the repair. If the machine isn't worth fixing, this is when we tell you.
- 5
Repair once you approve
With your go-ahead the part goes in and the appliance runs before we pack up. A part that isn't on hand gets ordered, and we book the follow-up visit before leaving.
Our part of Pennsylvania
We work in Allegheny County. That includes City of Pittsburgh neighborhoods such as Lawrenceville, Squirrel Hill, the North Side and the South Side Slopes, and the separate boroughs and townships around the city, among them Wilkinsburg, Dormont, Mt. Lebanon, Millvale, Bellevue, Penn Hills and Plum. The full list of areas is here.
The housing and the weather shape a lot of our work. Older houses keep the laundry in the basement, down steps that were never meant for a washer. Spare refrigerators in unheated garages struggle in winter. Storms knock the power out, and a control board doesn't always come back cleanly. We keep those causes in mind along with the part that finally gave out.
Something not working the way it should?
Call or book online. The brand, the model number and a sentence about the symptom are plenty to get a visit on the calendar.
