Appliance Repair in Pittsburgh, from the Kitchen to the Basement
A fridge that's warming up, a washer sitting full of water, a dryer that needs two runs: we come to the house, apartment or business, track down the part that failed, and give you the price before a single screw is turned.
- Cooling, laundry, dishwashing and cooking
- Houses, rowhomes, apartments, small businesses
- Gas and electric, most major brands
- You approve the price before we start
Two quick steps: what's wrong and where you are. We'll be in touch to set a time.

What It's Doing, and What Usually Causes It
Six complaints we hear all the time, with the part that's most often behind each. The appliance pages go through the rest.
Around here
Pittsburgh Houses and Weather, and What They Mean for a Repair
Basement laundry
Older homes put the washer and dryer downstairs, often beside a laundry tub or floor drain, with steep steps and low beams on the way down.
Hills, steps and parking
Hillside lots, city steps and permit-only blocks are part of getting to the door. A word about access at booking saves time on the day.
Cold garages and porches
A spare fridge or freezer out in an unheated space can stop keeping food cold in January, even when nothing inside it has broken.
Storms and outages
Summer thunderstorms and winter storms both cut power. Tripped breakers and upset control boards after a restart are common calls.
How a Repair Visit Goes
Once you've called or sent the form and we've agreed a time, every visit follows these five steps. The About page covers booking in more detail.
- 1
Diagnosis at your home
The technician checks the machine and whatever it hooks up to (electrical supply, water, drain, gas, vent) and keeps testing until one part is proven bad.
- 2
What went wrong
You hear, in plain terms, which part failed and what likely caused it. You can look at it yourself if you want.
- 3
A quote for the repair
One price for the repair just described. When the part needs ordering, we say so here rather than on a second trip.
- 4
You decide
Say yes, ask questions, or pass. No work starts and no part is replaced until you approve.
- 5
Repair and test run
We fit the part, which is matched to your model number, and run the appliance before we leave.
Repair or replace
Sometimes the Honest Answer Is “Replace It”
Plenty of faults come down to a single worn part, and replacing that part is the sensible move. Not always, though. When a machine is near the end of its life, when the part is discontinued, or when the repair would cost close to what a new one does, we tell you that at the diagnosis.
You still get the full picture: what failed, what the repair would involve and what it would cost. Then you decide. Sometimes the smarter spend is a new machine instead, and we'd rather you hear that from us than find out later.
We look past the broken part
A crushed dryer vent or a kinked water line will ruin a new part as well, so supply lines, drains and venting get checked with the machine.
Parts matched to the model number
Manufacturer parts where they're available. When we use an equivalent, we tell you that before it goes in.
Independent of every brand
We aren't tied to a manufacturer, so the same visit can cover a basic top-loader and a built-in refrigerator.
Access planned before we arrive
Stairs, parking, pets, a tenant who'll be home: we ask about those at booking so the visit is spent on the appliance.
48 Brands We Work On
From everyday kitchen and laundry makers to high-end built-ins, plus the refrigeration and ice machines behind restaurant counters.
The logos only show which equipment we service. We are independent, with no authorization from any of these manufacturers, so a machine still under the maker's warranty should go to the maker first.

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
We work in 12 service areas: Downtown, Strip District & Uptown; Oakland & Shadyside; East Liberty, Squirrel Hill & the East End; The North Side; Bellevue, West View & the North Hills; Millvale, Etna, Aspinwall & Fox Chapel; South Side, Mount Washington, Hazelwood & Homestead; Dormont, Brookline & the South Hills; Mt Lebanon, Upper St Clair & Pleasant Hills; West End, Crafton & the Airport Corridor; Wilkinsburg & Swissvale; Penn Hills & Plum. Each one has a page that lists its ZIP codes. If you live just past one of those edges, ask anyway. We'd rather give you a straight answer than have you guess.
See every area and ZIP code →Yes. Wilkinsburg, Dormont, Mt. Lebanon, Millvale, Penn Hills and the other boroughs and townships on our list are separate municipalities from the City of Pittsburgh, and we cover them the same way. The ZIP code decides whether you're in our area, not the name of the town on the sign.
Federal food-safety guidance (FoodSafety.gov and the USDA) says a refrigerator that stays shut keeps food safe for about four hours. A packed freezer should hold roughly two days (48 hours); one that's half empty, about a day. After the power comes back, check that the breaker or GFCI outlet hasn't tripped and give the unit several hours to pull back down. If it still isn't cooling by then, book a visit and we'll test the controls, fans and compressor start parts.
Maybe not. Many household refrigerators are built to run in a heated room, and in a garage, on an enclosed porch or in a cold basement the thermostat can sit satisfied while the freezer section warms up. Look up the ambient temperature range in the owner's manual for your model. If the unit fails in a normal room too, or the manual says it's rated for a garage, something has probably failed, and that's worth a diagnosis.
Not usually. Most repairs are done where the machine sits. Tell us about the stairs, the headroom and whether there's a light down there, and where the washer drains (a laundry tub, a standpipe or a floor drain). If a machine ever has to be moved to reach a part, we'll talk it through with you before anything is lifted.
Anything that helps us get to your door with tools and parts: permit-parking blocks, a driveway or alley we can use, whether the house sits up a set of steps, and which entrance leads to the appliance. On the steeper streets it also helps to know if the closest spot is above or below the house.
The technician tests the appliance at your home, finds the part that failed and then quotes the repair. Nothing is replaced until you agree to that price. We don't give prices over the phone, because one symptom, such as a dryer that won't heat, can come from several different parts.
Yes. If the machine is old, the part is hard to find or fixing it would come close to the cost of a new one, you'll hear that at the diagnosis and leave the decision to you.
Yes, and on electric ones. Gas cooking and gas dryers are common in homes around here. If you smell gas, don't try to find the leak yourself: leave the house with everyone and phone the gas company or 911 once you're out.
Start with the maker. We have no authorization from any manufacturer, and a repair by an outside company can muddy a warranty claim. When the coverage has run out, or the maker turns the claim down, book us.
Brands we work on →It varies with how busy the week is and which part of the county you're in. Get in touch and you'll get a real time slot, not a vague promise. Tell us if water is on the floor or food is at risk, so we know what we're dealing with.

That's enough to book. Look for the model number on a sticker along the door frame, beneath the washer lid, or on the rear of the machine. Add anything about stairs, parking or who'll be home, and we'll take it from there.
