LG Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We work on LG appliances as an independent repair service, not as part of LG's authorized network, so a unit still under LG's warranty should go through LG first. LG covers some sealed-system and motor parts longer than the rest of the appliance, which is worth checking before you pay for anything. Out of warranty, we diagnose at your home, explain what failed and give you the price before work starts.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

LG

Who builds LG appliances

LG Electronics is a Korean company headquartered in Seoul. Much of its US washer and dryer lineup is assembled at its plant in Clarksville, Tennessee, while refrigerators, ranges and dishwashers largely come from its factories in Korea and Mexico. The premium Signature Kitchen Suite line comes from the same company.

LG's appliance engineering centers on two motors it builds itself: the direct-drive motor in its washers and the inverter compressors in its refrigerators. Both show up in almost every LG repair conversation.

LG in local kitchens and basements

Stacked LG washer and dryer pairs fit well in the tight laundry closets carved out of older homes and in newer apartments where a unit has in-suite laundry. Side-by-side pairs on pedestals are common in suburban basements.

LG French-door refrigerators with the door-in-door or InstaView panel show up in renovated kitchens across the city and suburbs, and LG slide-in and freestanding ranges are a frequent choice when a kitchen gets new appliances all at once.

How the platform shapes the repair

The direct-drive washer has no belt or transmission: a rotor on the back of the tub is driven by a stator, and a hall sensor reports its position. That design removes some wear parts but puts attention on the tub bearings, the rotor and the sensor.

LG uses readable codes across its products, such as OE for a drain fault, IE for water inlet and dE for the door on washers, and flow warnings on dryers when the vent is restricted. Smart Diagnosis through the app or phone can report history, and we still confirm each fault by testing.

Parts and the extended compressor coverage

Common LG wear parts, such as washer door locks, drain pumps and dryer rollers, are shared across many models and easy to find. Refrigerator ice makers, inverter boards and cosmetic door parts are model-specific and sometimes slower to arrive.

LG has offered longer coverage on some inverter compressor and direct-drive motor parts than on the rest of the appliance. Check your model's warranty terms with LG before paying for a compressor or motor repair out of pocket.

LG, product by product

  • Refrigerators: French-door, InstaView, side-by-side and bottom-freezer models, many with inverter or linear compressors. Ice makers, defrost faults, fan motors and compressor issues lead the list.
  • Washers: Direct-drive front-loaders, WashTower stacked units and top-loaders. Drain pumps, door locks, tub bearings, rotor sensors and water valves are the common repairs.
  • Dryers: Electric and gas dryers, including heat pump and WashTower models. Vent flow warnings, heating elements, thermistors, drum rollers and gas coils come up most.
  • Dishwashers: QuadWash and standard built-in models with a direct-drive wash motor. Leak codes, drain pumps, inlet valves, heater circuits and filters drive most calls.
  • Ovens: Oven cavities of LG ranges and wall ovens, with ProBake convection and EasyClean. Sensors, bake and broil elements, convection fans and door locks fail most.
  • Microwaves: Over-the-range and countertop microwaves, some with inverter power and convection. No-heat faults, door switches, vent fans and control panels are common.
  • Freezers: Freezer sections of LG refrigerators and some standalone freezers. Evaporator fan motors, defrost heaters and sensors, ice buildup and door seals are common.
  • Cooktops: Induction, radiant and gas cooktops. Induction power boards, cracked glass, element and switch faults, and spark ignition problems are the usual repairs.
  • Stoves: Freestanding gas and electric stoves in rentals and older kitchens. Igniters, bake elements, surface elements, spark switches and oven sensors fail most.
  • Ranges: Slide-in, front-control and freestanding ranges, including dual-fuel and InstaView models. Control boards, touch keys, igniters and convection parts are frequent repairs.

Getting LG parts

LG sells parts through its own parts site and US distributors, and much of its laundry hardware is shared across large model families, so pumps, locks and valves turn up quickly. Refrigerator ice makers, compressor inverter boards and trim pieces are narrower and can take longer. We order by the full model number, say when the part is an updated or equivalent version, and check whether LG's extended parts coverage applies before you pay for a compressor or motor.

FAQ

LG: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

It is a feature that lets the appliance send its error history to LG's app or play tones over a phone. It is a useful starting point, but it only reports what the sensors saw. We still test the parts before telling you what failed.

LG has offered extended coverage on the compressor in many refrigerators, separate from the standard warranty. The terms depend on your model and purchase date, so check with LG first. If the compressor is not the cause, the repair is typically a fan, sensor or defrost part.

Front-loaders seal tightly, so moisture stays in the door boot, the drain filter and the detergent drawer. Leave the door and drawer open between loads, and when tcL appears, run the tub clean cycle it's asking for. If it still smells, the boot may need to be replaced.
