About these terms
TrueFix Pittsburgh is the trading name of TrueFix Pittsburgh (“we”, “us”). We are an independent appliance repair business working in homes and businesses in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and we are not an authorized service center for any manufacturer. These terms apply when you use this website or book a repair with us. Please don't book through the site if you do not agree to them.
Appointments
- We give an arrival window when we confirm the visit. It is an estimate: traffic, detours, weather and the length of earlier jobs can move it, and we will get in touch if it changes.
- An adult who can approve the work must be there while the technician is on site.
- You are responsible for getting us to the appliance. That includes access to a basement or laundry room, building entry or elevator arrangements, and letting us know about parking restrictions when you book.
- If you need to cancel or change the time, please tell us as early as you can.
- A technician may refuse to start or continue work where it isn't safe, for instance if there is a gas odor, standing water, damaged wiring or an appliance that can't be reached safely.
Diagnosis, quote and your approval
- The technician examines the appliance at your property and explains what has failed.
- We then quote the repair. If a repair isn't worth doing, we will tell you so.
- No repair work starts until you approve the quoted price. Declining is your choice, and you are not obliged to go ahead.
If the fault turns out to be different or larger once the appliance is opened up, we will stop and ask before doing anything outside what you approved.
Parts
- Parts are matched to the appliance's model number. We use manufacturer parts where they can be obtained and tell you when a part is an equivalent instead.
- When a part has to be ordered, we will say so before you approve and share what we know about when it should arrive. Supplier and shipping delays are outside our control.
- Old parts we remove are ours to dispose of, unless you ask to keep them before the work starts.
Payment
Payment is due when the approved work is complete, unless we have agreed something different in writing. We will tell you which payment methods we take when we confirm your appointment.
Warranty
Repairs we carry out are guaranteed for 90 days on parts, 30 days on labor, counted from the date the work is completed.
Our warranty covers only the work we did and the parts we fitted. It does not cover unrelated faults in the same appliance, damage from misuse, power surges, freezing, flooding or other outside causes, or an appliance someone else has worked on after us. An appliance still under the manufacturer's warranty should go to the manufacturer first; that warranty is separate from ours.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law permits, we are not responsible for:
- existing wear, rust or damage unrelated to the work we did;
- food, medicine or other items lost because the appliance broke down before we arrived;
- indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses of any kind.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Pennsylvania or federal consumer law that cannot be waived by agreement.
Service area
We take bookings in these areas only:
- Allegheny County: Downtown, Strip District & Uptown; Oakland & Shadyside; East Liberty, Squirrel Hill & the East End; The North Side; Bellevue, West View & the North Hills; Millvale, Etna, Aspinwall & Fox Chapel; South Side, Mount Washington, Hazelwood & Homestead; Dormont, Brookline & the South Hills; Mt Lebanon, Upper St Clair & Pleasant Hills; West End, Crafton & the Airport Corridor; Wilkinsburg & Swissvale; Penn Hills & Plum.
The website and its content
Articles and troubleshooting guides here are general information. They are not a diagnosis of your appliance and not a quote, and we may change them at any time. Work on gas lines, live electrical parts or sealed refrigerant systems should be left to someone qualified. The text and images on this site belong to us, and you may not reproduce them for commercial use without our written permission.
Text messages
Customers who opt in to texts are also covered by our SMS Terms. Replying STOP ends texts at any time.
Governing law and where disputes are heard
These terms, and any dispute about them or our services, are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without applying its conflict-of-law rules. Any such dispute will be brought in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County or a magisterial district court in Allegheny County, or, where federal jurisdiction exists, in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh, unless the law gives you the right to bring it somewhere else.
Updates and questions
We may change these terms. The version on this page when you book is the one that applies to that job. Send any questions to:
