Sub-Zero ice maker repair
Sub-Zero Ice Maker Repair in Pittsburgh
Sub-Zero ice makers fixed at home across Pittsburgh and nearby boroughs. Freezer ice makers inside full-size units and standalone undercounter ice makers, with gravity-drain and pump-drain versions. Scale, water supply, drain pumps and bin sensors cause most trouble.

Sub-Zero Ice Maker Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
We have no affiliation with Sub-Zero and are not one of its service centers. A ice maker still covered by the Sub-Zero warranty belongs with Sub-Zero first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.
How an Ice Maker Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.
How Sub-Zero builds its ice makers
Two different machines share this heading. Inside a full-size Sub-Zero, the ice maker is a module in the freezer fed by a solenoid valve, and it stops when the water supply is weak, the fill tube freezes or the freezer itself runs warm. The standalone undercounter ice makers are separate appliances with their own refrigeration, water circuit and drain; the pump-drain versions add a drain pump that can clog and back water into the bin. On any ice maker, mineral scale from the water supply builds up on the parts that touch water and slows production. Descaling by the maker's procedure comes before any part is condemned, and a slow feed from an old saddle valve or kinked line is ruled out early.
Parts that tend to fail on Sub-Zero ice makers
- Fill tube frozen in the freezer
- Water valve not opening fully
- Scale slowing undercounter production
- Drain pump clogged and flooding the bin
- Bin sensor misreading and stopping production

Sub-Zero Ice Maker: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Scale and a dirty condenser are the usual reasons. Mineral deposits slow how fast water freezes and releases, and a dusty condenser at the front grille cuts cooling. We clean and descale to the maker's procedure, then test the valve, pump and refrigeration if output stays low.
Water first: the supply valve, the line pressure and whether the fill tube has frozen. Then the inlet valve, the module and its shutoff arm or sensor. A cold freezer with no ice is usually a water or ice maker fault, not a cooling one.
