Perlick Ice Maker Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Perlick and are not one of its service centers. A ice maker still covered by the Perlick warranty belongs with Perlick first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How an Ice Maker Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Perlick builds its ice makers

A Perlick undercounter ice maker builds clear ice by running water over a cold evaporator plate, so minerals get left behind in the water rather than frozen into the cubes. That design works well but it scales, and a scaled plate slows harvest and eventually stops production. The other half of the machine is the drain. Some models drain by gravity and some use a pump, and either one clogging will flood the bin or the cabinet. Outdoor units bring a third factor: a water line, valve or drain that froze. We check water supply, drain path and the plate before looking at refrigeration, because that's where most Perlick ice calls end.

Parts that tend to fail on Perlick ice makers

  • Drain pump failure leaving water in the bin
  • Scale on the evaporator plate slowing harvest
  • Water inlet valve not opening
  • Outdoor unit with a frozen supply or drain line
  • Cubes melting together from a warm bin

FAQ

Perlick Ice Maker: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Not necessarily. On outdoor units, a frozen water line, inlet valve or drain can stop the machine. Once thawed it may run normally, though freezing can crack valves or lines. We check for damage before replacing anything.

Clear ice is made by leaving the minerals behind, and those minerals build up on the evaporator and in the water system. Regular cleaning, per the manual, keeps harvest working and prevents a service call.
