Ice-O-Matic Ice Maker Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Ice-O-Matic and are not one of its service centers. A ice maker still covered by the Ice-O-Matic warranty belongs with Ice-O-Matic first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How an Ice Maker Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Ice-O-Matic builds its ice makers

An Ice-O-Matic cuber freezes water over a vertical evaporator, with a pump circulating water from a trough across the plate. An ice thickness probe senses when the ice has built to the set size and signals the board to harvest; hot gas then warms the evaporator so the slab of cubes drops into the bin. Water level sensing in the trough controls how much water each cycle uses, and a bin control stops production when the bin is full. When scale coats the evaporator or the probe, harvest timing goes wrong: cubes grow too thick, stick, or release as a single sheet. Pearl Ice and flaker models use an auger instead, with their own wear points in the gear motor and bearings.

Parts that tend to fail on Ice-O-Matic ice makers

  • Scale on evaporator and thickness probe
  • Water pump weak
  • Ice thickness probe dirty or misadjusted
  • Bin control not sensing full
  • Water inlet valve failing

The general ice maker repair guide covers faults that turn up on every make.

Ice-O-Matic Ice Maker: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

The ice thickness probe may be dirty or set too thick, or the harvest isn't finishing properly. We clean and check the probe, then the harvest components.

The bin control isn't signaling full. It may be dirty, out of position or failing. We check it and adjust or replace it as needed.
