Manitowoc Ice Maker Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Manitowoc and are not one of its service centers. A ice maker still covered by the Manitowoc warranty belongs with Manitowoc first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How an Ice Maker Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Manitowoc builds its ice makers

Manitowoc cubers freeze water on a vertical evaporator, with a pump sending water through a distribution tube to flow across the plate. An ice thickness probe detects when the ice bridge between cubes reaches the set thickness, and hot gas then warms the evaporator for harvest. A water level probe controls the fill, and the bin is monitored either by an ultrasonic sensor on some newer models or by the water curtain, which swings open as the ice drops and stops the machine when it can't close. Scale on the evaporator and probes throws off timing, so cubes come out thick, thin or stuck together. QuietQube systems add a remote condensing unit that sits outdoors through Pittsburgh winters.

Parts that tend to fail on Manitowoc ice makers

  • Scale on evaporator and probes
  • Ice thickness probe out of adjustment
  • Water curtain not closing
  • Water pump failing
  • Harvest valve not opening

FAQ

Manitowoc Ice Maker: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Scale, low water flow or a dirty thickness probe. Cleaning and adjusting the probe often fixes it. If not, we check the pump and the water level controls.

The water curtain may not be closing, the bin sensor may be at fault, or the harvest itself didn't finish. We check those in order.
