Maxx Ice Ice Maker Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Maxx Ice and are not one of its service centers. A ice maker still covered by the Maxx Ice warranty belongs with Maxx Ice first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How an Ice Maker Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Maxx Ice builds its ice makers

A Maxx Ice cuber freezes cubes on an evaporator grid while a small pump recirculates water from a trough over it. When the cubes reach thickness, a sensor starts harvest, a hot gas valve sends warm refrigerant through the evaporator, and the sheet of cubes drops. Most repairs sit in that sequence. Mineral scale on the grid makes cubes stick and harvest drag on, a pump with worn bearings stops wetting the plate evenly, and a failed hot gas valve leaves ice frozen in place. Self-contained undercounter units also rely on a gravity drain, so a sagging line can back water into the cabinet. We check water flow, harvest timing and condenser airflow before blaming refrigeration.

Parts that tend to fail on Maxx Ice ice makers

  • Cubes stuck on the evaporator after harvest
  • Recirculating water pump not running
  • Hot gas valve failing to open
  • Bin fills too slowly from a dirty condenser
  • Water in the cabinet from a backed-up drain

Maxx Ice Ice Maker: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Thin cubes usually mean harvest starts too soon, often from a thickness sensor coated in scale or a weak water flow over the plate. Cloudy ice points to high mineral content or a dirty water system. A cleaning and a flow check often fix both.

Follow the interval in the manual for your model, and clean sooner if cubes start sticking or output drops. The condenser also needs regular brushing in a kitchen, since grease and flour collect there quickly.
