Maxx Ice Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
Maxx Ice is a newer, value-priced name in commercial ice, and it tends to be bought by places that need ice every day but don't want to pay for a heavyweight brand. We repair these machines as an independent shop with no factory service contract. If yours was installed recently and is still covered, start with the seller or the manufacturer; once coverage has run out, we can come look at it.

Maxx Ice Products We Service
Who is behind the Maxx Ice name
Maxx Ice came out in 2008 as the ice side of Maxximum, which also sells Maxx Cold refrigeration. Both names sit under The Legacy Companies, a restaurant-equipment group that has since added several other equipment brands. The lineup covers self-contained undercounter machines, modular heads that sit on a separate bin, and the bins themselves.
You tend to see them where the budget is tight and the ice demand is modest to moderate: a neighborhood bar, a small café, a pizza shop, a church or club kitchen, an office break room.
How these machines usually go wrong
Mechanically a Maxx Ice cuber does what most cubers do. Water is pumped over a chilled evaporator, cubes build up, and a harvest cycle warms the plate so the slab drops into the bin. Most service calls come back to that loop: scale on the evaporator that slows or stops harvest, a water pump or inlet valve that has quit, a sensor that no longer reads the cube thickness or bin level correctly.
Air-cooled units add one more habit. They pull room air across a condenser, and in a small kitchen that air carries grease and flour. A clogged condenser makes every freeze cycle longer and pushes head pressure up, which shows up as low production long before anything actually breaks.
Where it's installed changes the job
Undercounter machines in older Pittsburgh storefronts are often wedged under a bar with little clearance and a drain line that runs to a floor drain several feet away. A slow or sagging drain is a surprisingly common reason for water on the floor. Machines in basement prep areas can also sit in cooler, damper air than the kitchen upstairs, which is worth knowing when a unit behaves differently in winter than in summer.
We look at the install as well as the machine, because a fix that ignores a blocked drain or a starved air intake doesn't last.
Maxx Ice, product by product
- Ice Makers: Self-contained undercounter cubers and modular cube heads on storage bins. Typical calls: slow or failed harvest, low ice output, water leaking at the drain, a pump or inlet valve that has stopped, and air-cooled condensers clogged with kitchen dust.
Getting Maxx Ice parts
Maxx Ice parts are handled through the brand's own distribution and commercial parts sellers rather than every general supplier. Common items like water pumps, inlet valves, fan motors and sensors can usually be ordered by model number, while control boards and evaporators may take longer. We confirm the part against the model and serial plate while we're there and tell you whether the machine can keep running in the meantime.
Maxx Ice: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
It's sold as commercial equipment for bars, restaurants, cafés and similar businesses. Some of its smaller undercounter models end up in homes with a basement bar, and we work on them in either setting.
Look at the condenser grille for a coating of dust or grease and make sure nothing is blocking the air path. If it's clean, the usual causes are scale on the evaporator or a water flow problem, which we test on site.
We're independent, so warranty work should go through the seller or manufacturer first. If the claim is refused or the coverage has ended, we can diagnose it and quote the repair.
