Perlick Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
Perlick equipment is built to go under a counter and stay there, which is exactly what makes a failure annoying: the unit is trimmed in, often panel-matched, and pulling it out takes care. We service Perlick units as an independent company. A unit still inside the maker's coverage should go to Perlick first; once it's out, we diagnose it in place, explain what failed and quote the repair before touching anything.
How a Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

Perlick Products We Service
A bar equipment company that went residential
Perlick has been in Milwaukee since 1917 and is still family-run. Most of its reputation comes from the commercial side: draft beer systems, bottle coolers and the stainless underbar equipment behind a lot of taverns. The residential line borrows that construction for home use, with undercounter refrigerators, refrigerator and freezer drawers, beverage centers, wine reserves, beer dispensers and ice makers, many offered in outdoor versions.
In the Pittsburgh area these turn up in finished basements with a wet bar, in kitchen islands in newer or remodeled suburban homes, and on covered patios where someone has built an outdoor kitchen.
Front breathing and what it means for service
Because the unit is built in with no gap at the back or sides, it has to move heat out through the grille at the bottom front. Keep that grille clear. When lint, pet hair or a rug edge chokes it, the compressor runs longer and the cabinet drifts warm. A good share of Perlick calls start there.
The other common threads are door gaskets and hinges on heavy panel-ready doors, fans, and on ice makers the water and drain side. Much of this can be reached from the front without pulling the unit, which saves the cabinetry.
Outdoor units and a Pittsburgh winter
An outdoor-rated Perlick is built to handle weather, but freezing nights still matter, especially for anything that holds water. The owner's manual lists the ambient range the model is rated for and what the maker says to do in cold weather, and it's worth reading before the first hard freeze. An outdoor ice maker whose water line or drain froze is a different repair from one with a failed part, and we check for that first.
Perlick, product by product
- Refrigerators: Undercounter refrigerators, refrigerator and freezer drawers, and beverage centers, indoor and outdoor. Frequent calls: warm cabinet from a blocked front grille, fan failure, torn gaskets, sagging panel doors and drawer slides.
- Ice Makers: Undercounter clear-ice makers with gravity drain or a drain pump. Calls usually involve no ice, slow production, scale, a failed drain pump, and frozen lines on outdoor units.
- Wine Coolers: Single- and dual-zone wine reserves, often with glass doors. Common problems: a zone that won't hold temperature, noisy fans, condensation on the glass and worn door seals.
Getting Perlick parts
Perlick sells residential parts through its own channels and some appliance parts distributors, and it keeps many parts available for older models. Gaskets, hinges, fans and thermostats or sensors can generally be found by model and serial number. Sealed-system components and control boards take more checking. We confirm what fits from the serial tag and let you know the expected wait before you approve the job.
Perlick: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Often not. Perlick units are serviced from the front for many common repairs, like fans, gaskets, controls and hinges. Sealed-system work or a leak behind the unit may require pulling it, and we'll tell you before we do.
Check the grille at the bottom front first. It's where the unit breathes, and if it's blocked the refrigerator can't shed heat. If it's clear, a failed fan, a sensor or a door seal leak are the next suspects.
It's from the same company and shares some construction ideas, but the residential line is a separate product family with its own model numbers and parts. We order by the model and serial on your unit's tag.
It depends on the model. Check the owner's manual for its rated temperature range and cold-weather instructions. Ice makers and anything with a water line are the most vulnerable to freezing.
