True Residential Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
True made its name in commercial kitchens, and its home units carry over the same heavy build. That makes them long-lived, but it also means diagnosis follows a commercial logic: airflow, coils and controls first. We service True equipment independently, outside True's warranty network, so anything still covered should go through True before we get involved.
How a Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

True Residential Products We Service
A Missouri refrigeration family business
True Manufacturing was started in 1945 and is still family-owned, based in O'Fallon, Missouri. Most people know it from restaurant work: the glass-door and solid-door reach-ins, sandwich and pizza prep tables, bar coolers and merchandisers that line commercial kitchens.
Its residential line takes that construction into the house with undercounter refrigerators, freezers, refrigerator drawers, beverage centers, wine cabinets and full-height columns. In and around Pittsburgh, the residential units tend to go into larger kitchen remodels, basement bars and entertaining spaces, while the commercial equipment is found in restaurants, bars, cafés and delis.
Coils, fans and kitchens
True's commercial units are simple in a good way: a compressor, condenser coil, evaporator coil, fans and a control. The failures are simple too. A condenser coated with grease and flour is the most common reason a reach-in or prep table starts running warm, and it's also the easiest to prevent.
Prep tables add a quirk. The rail that holds pans is cooled by air from the cabinet below, so a propped lid, an overpacked rail or a blocked air path shows up as warm pans on top even when the cabinet reads fine.
Planning a repair in a working kitchen
When a commercial unit fails, product has to go somewhere while we work. We tell you up front whether the repair can happen with food in the box or not, and whether the part is likely to be on hand. For residential units, the question is usually access: most True undercounters breathe through the front, so many repairs happen without pulling the unit out.
True Residential, product by product
- Refrigerators: Residential undercounter refrigerators, drawers and columns, plus commercial reach-ins, prep tables and bar coolers. Typical calls: warm cabinet from a dirty condenser, failed evaporator fans, door gaskets and hinges, and control or sensor faults.
- Freezers: Undercounter and column freezers at home, reach-in and undercounter freezers in kitchens. Calls usually involve frost buildup from defrost faults, iced evaporators, fan motors and gaskets that no longer seal.
- Wine Coolers: Residential wine cabinets and beverage centers with glass doors, single and dual zone. Calls tend to be about temperature drift, fan noise, lighting and gasket wear.
Getting True Residential parts
True supports its equipment with parts through commercial distributors, and common items such as fan motors, gaskets, hinges, thermostats and controllers are usually easy to find. Residential parts are also available but can be fewer on the shelf. We confirm the model and serial number, which True uses to track build details, and give you an honest estimate of how long the part will take.
True Residential: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
The engineering is similar, but model numbers and many parts differ. We order by the model and serial tag on your unit and treat residential and commercial equipment as separate lines.
Look at the condenser coil for dust and grease, make sure nothing blocks the air around the unit, and check that the door closes and seals. If all of that looks fine, the fan, control or refrigerant system needs a diagnosis.
Often, yes. True equipment is heavily built, and many failures involve fans, controls or gaskets rather than the compressor. A sealed-system failure on an old unit is closer, and we'll tell you if replacing it makes more sense.
