Thermador Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
Thermador started in Los Angeles and today belongs to BSH, the Bosch-owned appliance group that also makes Bosch and Gaggenau. That shared ownership matters in repair: Thermador dishwashers and some other products sit on BSH platforms, while the ranges and rangetops have their own burner and ignition design. We fix Thermador equipment independently of the brand's service network. If yours is still under the maker's warranty, contact Thermador first; after that, call or book online and we'll diagnose it in your kitchen.
How a Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

Kitchens that tend to have Thermador
Thermador usually comes in as a full kitchen package: a pro-style range or rangetop, a wall oven stack, a pair of refrigerator and freezer columns and a matching dishwasher. Around Pittsburgh that means renovated kitchens in the East End's older houses, newer builds in the North Hills and South Hills suburbs, and finished condos in the city's newer residential towers.
Because the pieces were bought together, they often age together. When one fails it's worth knowing the model family of the others, since parts and failure patterns carry across them.
Star burners and ExtraLow
Thermador's gas burners are star-shaped, which gives more port length around the edge than a round burner of the same size. The flame spreads wider, and a single blocked point can show up as a gap in the ring.
Some burners have ExtraLow, which holds a very low simmer by cycling the flame off and back on. On those burners the clicking and relighting during simmer is by design. It's a fault only when the burner fails to relight or clicks with the knob off.
What BSH ownership means for parts
BSH runs a single parts system for its brands in North America, and dishwasher parts in particular overlap with the equivalent Bosch platform. That generally helps availability. Pro range components, refrigeration column boards and steam oven parts are Thermador-specific and can take longer.
We identify parts by model and FD (production) number, since BSH changes parts mid-run and the FD number is what separates one version from the next.
Thermador, product by product
- Refrigerators: Freedom Collection built-in refrigerator columns, bottom-freezer and French-door built-ins. We see ice maker faults, fan and defrost problems, door alignment on panel-ready units, and control faults.
- Dishwashers: Star Sapphire, Emerald and Topaz families on BSH's dishwasher platform. Typical repairs: drain pumps, circulation pumps and heaters, leak-sensor shutdowns and door hinge springs.
- Ovens: Masterpiece and Professional wall ovens, combination steam ovens and speed ovens. Elements, convection fans, door locks, temperature sensors and steam-system scale are the common repairs.
- Microwaves: Microwave drawers, built-in microwaves and speed ovens. Drawer mechanisms that stall, no-heat faults, door switches and touch-panel failures.
- Freezers: Freedom freezer columns and the freezer sections of built-ins. Frost from door-seal leaks, defrost heater or sensor failures, ice maker problems and evaporator fan noise.
- Cooktops: Star-burner gas cooktops and rangetops, along with induction units such as Freedom Induction. We handle ignition, simmer, induction board and fan faults, and cracked glass.
- Wine Coolers: Built-in wine preservation columns and undercounter wine units. Calls are mostly about zones running warm, noisy fans, tired door seals or controls.
- Stoves: The Thermador range in daily use: burners that won't light or stay lit, constant clicking, simmer trouble, and an oven that runs off its setting.
- Ranges: Pro Harmony and Pro Grand ranges, gas, dual-fuel or induction, sometimes with a griddle or grill section. We replace igniters, spark modules, valves, bake and convection elements and hinges.
Getting Thermador parts
Thermador parts ship through BSH's North American parts operation. Burner components, igniters, dishwasher pumps and common oven elements are usually on hand. Refrigeration column electronics, induction boards, steam oven parts and trim for older Pro ranges can take a while, and some have been superseded. We record the model and FD numbers at the diagnosis, confirm the exact part and give you a realistic lead time before ordering anything.
Thermador: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Not if it's an ExtraLow burner. ExtraLow gets a very gentle simmer by turning the flame off and on in cycles, and the igniter clicks each time it relights. We look into it if the burner fails to relight, or if the clicking continues with the knob turned off.
They share BSH's dishwasher platform, so many internal parts and failure patterns match Bosch models of the same generation. Features, racks and trim differ. That overlap generally makes pumps, heaters and sensors easier to find.
It's printed on the rating label next to the model number. On dishwashers the label is usually on the edge of the door; on ranges and ovens it's often behind the kick panel, inside the oven door frame or under the cooktop. A phone photo of the label helps us get the right part.
If the appliance is still under the maker's warranty, call Thermador so the repair is covered. We are an independent repair company, not an authorized Thermador service center. Once the warranty has ended, we can diagnose it on site and quote before any work.
