JennAir Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
JennAir is Whirlpool Corporation's luxury brand, built largely on Whirlpool platforms with its own design and a few systems of its own. We're independent and not an authorized JennAir service provider, so an appliance still inside its warranty should go to JennAir first. After that, we come to your home, diagnose the fault and quote the repair before starting.
How a Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

An Indianapolis idea that stuck
Jenn-Air began in Indianapolis, and its signature was the downdraft range and cooktop, which pulls smoke and steam down through the cooking surface and out through a duct instead of up into a hood. The brand passed through several owners, Maytag among them, and came to Whirlpool when Whirlpool bought Maytag in 2006. The hyphen was dropped later.
Today JennAir sells built-in refrigerators and columns, wall ovens, ranges, cooktops, dishwashers, wine cellars and microwaves, many sharing platforms and parts with KitchenAid and Whirlpool models.
Downdrafts in Pittsburgh houses
Downdraft cooktops and ranges were a favorite for island kitchens, and in older Pittsburgh homes their ducts often drop through the floor, run along the basement joists and exit through a foundation or rim wall. That duct run is part of the appliance. A blower that sounds strong but moves little air may be fighting a crushed or grease-lined duct, or a backdraft damper stuck at the outside wall.
In winter, cold air can drift back down an exterior duct when the damper doesn't close, and condensation can gather in a long run through an unheated basement.
Access comes first
Built-in JennAir refrigerators and panel-ready dishwashers are fitted into cabinetry, and wall ovens are screwed in through their side trim. Many repairs happen from the front, but some need the unit slid out, and we plan that so trim, flooring and counters come through undamaged.
Repair or replace in a fitted kitchen
A JennAir built-in sits in a cutout sized for it. Replacing one means matching dimensions, panels and trim, so repair is usually the better choice while parts exist. Whirlpool's parts supply supports JennAir well, especially where a model shares a Whirlpool platform, and we tell you when a part has been discontinued or an equivalent is the only option.
JennAir, product by product
- Refrigerators: Built-in side-by-side, French-door and column refrigerators, many panel-ready. Fans, ice makers, water valves, sensors, defrost parts and door hinges are common repairs.
- Dishwashers: Built-in dishwashers on Whirlpool platforms, many panel-ready. Filters, drain and wash pumps, inlet valves, door springs and latches fail most.
- Ovens: Single, double and combination wall ovens, many with convection. Door locks, thermal fuses, cooling fans, elements, sensors and control boards wear most.
- Microwaves: Built-in, over-the-range and drawer microwaves, plus speed ovens. Magnetrons, door switches, drawer mechanisms and vent fans fail most.
- Cooktops: Downdraft, gas, radiant and induction cooktops. Downdraft blowers and ducts, pop-up vent motors, spark ignition and induction boards are typical.
- Wine Coolers: Undercounter wine cellars and column wine units. Fans, zone sensors, door seals, lighting and controls are the usual repairs.
- Stoves: A JennAir stove is usually a freestanding or slide-in range, sometimes a downdraft model. Igniters, elements, sensors and blower motors are common repairs.
- Ranges: Pro-style gas, dual-fuel and induction ranges, plus older downdraft ranges. Igniters, spark modules, convection fans, sensors and control boards fail most.
Getting JennAir parts
JennAir parts come through Whirlpool's parts channel and its distributors, and many are shared with KitchenAid and Whirlpool models, which helps both availability and lead time. JennAir-specific trim, panels and some electronics take longer, or are discontinued on older models. We match parts to the model and serial number and tell you when an equivalent is used.

Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Yes. Whirlpool Corporation owns JennAir, and many JennAir models share platforms and parts with KitchenAid and Whirlpool appliances.
It needs a working blower, clean filters and a clear duct. Most airflow complaints come from a clogged filter, a tired blower motor or a duct problem, and we check all three.
Yes. We protect panels and cabinetry and plan the work so the unit only comes out of its opening when it has to.
Please contact JennAir first, since warranty repairs go through their service network. We're glad to help once that coverage ends.
