Dacor Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

Dacor started as a California family business and has been part of Samsung since 2016, so the Dacor kitchens we see span two eras: older models engineered by the original company and newer ones built on Samsung platforms. We repair both, independently of Dacor's and Samsung's service networks. If yours is still under the maker's warranty, contact Dacor first. Otherwise, the questions are what failed and whether the part is still made, and on older Dacor that second question needs an honest answer before anything is ordered.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

Dacor

Two generations of one brand

For about fifty years Dacor was an independent, family-run maker of cooking appliances, known for wall ovens with its own convection system and gas cooktops with illuminated knobs. Samsung bought the company in 2016 and rebuilt the lineup around its own refrigeration, dishwashers and connected controls, while keeping the Dacor name for its luxury built-ins.

That history matters for repair. A Dacor wall oven from the 2000s and one from the last few years may share a badge and nothing else. We identify the generation from the serial label before quoting.

Where Dacor turns up locally

Dacor was a common choice in high-end kitchen remodels, so we find it in larger homes in Fox Chapel, Upper St. Clair and Mt. Lebanon, renovated houses in Squirrel Hill and Shadyside, as well as in luxury condos Downtown. Many of those installs date from the years before Samsung, which means stacked wall ovens and gas cooktops that have now been in daily use for a long time.

Built-in appliances are measured to their openings. Replacing a double wall oven or a column fridge with a different brand can mean new cabinetry, which is often the reason a repair is the better route.

Controls, sensors and the parts question

Dacor ovens depend on electronic controls, temperature probes and relay boards, and some models used a touchscreen or an Android-based tablet as the control. When those fail, the replacement cost depends heavily on whether the board is still available. We test elements, fans, sensors and wiring first, because a board swap on a fault that isn't the board wastes money.

For current Samsung-era models, parts come through Samsung's distribution and are generally easy to get. For pre-2016 models, some controls and trim parts are discontinued, and we tell you that plainly once we know.

Dacor, product by product

  • Refrigerators: Integrated column refrigerators and freezers and built-in French-door models. Common work: temperature sensors, evaporator fans, ice makers, water valves and defrost faults.
  • Dishwashers: Panel-ready and stainless 24-inch dishwashers, mostly Samsung-era. We handle drain and wash pumps, leak sensors, door hinges and fill problems.
  • Ovens: Single and double convection wall ovens, combination speed ovens and steam ovens. Typical repairs: convection fans, hidden elements, sensors, door hinges and control boards.
  • Microwaves: Built-in microwaves, speed ovens and microwave drawers. Calls include no heat, drawers that won't open or close, door switch faults and control failures.
  • Cooktops: Gas cooktops with lighted knobs and high-output burners, plus induction and radiant electric tops. Ignition, spark modules, knob lights and induction boards are frequent calls.
  • Wine Coolers: Undercounter wine units and full-height wine columns with separate temperature zones. We fix sensors, fans, control boards, door seals and cooling faults.
  • Stoves: A Dacor stove as its owner lives with it: a burner that won't ignite, an oven that runs hot, a control that locks up, or knobs whose lights have gone out.
  • Ranges: Pro-style gas, dual-fuel and induction ranges, 30 to 48 inches. We replace igniters, burner valves, convection fans, oven elements and control boards.

Getting Dacor parts

Parts for Samsung-era Dacor appliances come through Samsung's parts distribution and are usually straightforward to get. For models built before the 2016 acquisition, common items such as igniters, elements, fan motors and gaskets are often still around, but some control boards, touch panels and cosmetic parts have been discontinued. We match every part to the model and serial number, say when an equivalent is being used, and tell you if a key part is no longer made.

FAQ

Dacor: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Often, yes. Elements, igniters, fans, sensors and door parts are frequently still available. Control boards and touch panels are where some older models hit a wall. We diagnose first and check part availability before you commit.

Yes. Samsung acquired Dacor in 2016. Newer Dacor refrigerators, dishwashers and wall ovens share Samsung engineering, while many older units in homes today were designed by the original company. That affects which parts apply.

If the appliance is under the maker's warranty, call Dacor so the repair is covered. After the warranty ends, you can choose. We're independent, diagnose in your home, and quote before any work starts.
