Miele Washer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Miele and are not one of its service centers. A washer still covered by the Miele warranty belongs with Miele first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Washer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Miele builds its washers

Miele W1 washers are compact front-loaders with a honeycomb-pattern drum and, on many models, TwinDos, which pumps liquid detergent from two cartridges in the lower front. The frequent problems are a drain pump clogged by lint, hair ties or coins, a door lock that won't release at the end of a cycle, inlet valves that stop opening and dosing pumps or cartridges that no longer deliver. Bearings eventually wear on older machines and announce it with a roar in spin. Many W1 units are stacked with a T1 dryer in a closet, so some repairs mean lifting the dryer off first. We clear the drain path and test the door lock before recommending a board or motor.

Parts that tend to fail on Miele washers

  • Drain pump blocked
  • Door lock not releasing
  • TwinDos pump failing
  • Inlet valve not opening
  • Drum bearings noisy

Symptoms that aren't specific to one maker are covered on our washer repair page.

FAQ

Miele Washer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Check the drain filter behind the lower front panel for lint, coins or small items. Also make sure the drain hose isn't kinked or frozen in a cold basement. If it still won't drain, we test the pump.

A cartridge may be empty or not seated, or the dosing pump may have failed. We check the cartridges, the connections and the pumps.
