Admiral Dryer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Admiral and are not one of its service centers. A dryer still covered by the Admiral warranty belongs with Admiral first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Dryer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside an Admiral dryer

Admiral dryers share Whirlpool's long-running 29-inch design, which is simple to diagnose. Air is drawn over a heater, through the drum and out a blower housing where a thermal fuse sits; when the exhaust is choked with lint, that fuse opens and the dryer tumbles without heat. Electric models use a coiled element plus cycling and high-limit thermostats. Gas models use a glow igniter, a flame sensor and a pair of valve coils that weaken with age, so the flame lights once and then won't relight. Mechanically, a squeal usually comes from the idler pulley, and a rumble from worn rear drum rollers. In basements, long vent runs through the foundation deserve a look on any no-heat call.

Parts that tend to fail on Admiral dryers

  • Thermal fuse blown by clogged vent
  • Heating element coil broken
  • Gas valve coils weak
  • Idler pulley squealing
  • Rear drum rollers worn flat

FAQ

Admiral Dryer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Sometimes, but check the thermal fuse and the vent first. A blocked vent causes the fuse to blow, and replacing only the fuse brings the problem back. We test the fuse, heater and thermostats and look at the exhaust path.

When the burner cycles off and tries to relight, weak gas valve coils often fail to open the valve. The igniter glows but no flame follows. Testing the coils and flame sensor confirms it before parts are ordered.
