Kenmore Dryer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
We have no affiliation with Kenmore and are not one of its service centers. A dryer still covered by the Kenmore warranty belongs with Kenmore first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.
How a Dryer Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.
What's inside a Kenmore dryer
A Kenmore dryer with a 110 prefix is a Whirlpool design inside, most often the familiar 29-inch platform with a thermal fuse, a high-limit and cycling thermostat, rear drum rollers, a front drum glide, a belt and an idler pulley. Electric models use a heating element in a housing; gas versions light with a glow bar and open the burner through a pair of valve coils. The 796-prefix dryers are LG designs with their own sensors and boards. On any of them, the most common heat fault starts at the vent. In an older house, long vent runs through basement joists or an exterior wall hood that frosts or clogs in winter cut airflow, overheat the dryer, and blow the thermal fuse.
Parts that tend to fail on Kenmore dryers
- Thermal fuse blown by a restricted vent
- Heating element open
- Gas valve coils weak
- Drum rollers or idler pulley squealing
- Drum belt broken

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
The vent and the thermal fuse. A blown thermal fuse is often the result of a restricted vent. After that, electric models get the element and thermostats tested, and gas models get the igniter and valve coils checked.
On Whirlpool-built gas dryers, a glowing igniter with no flame usually means the valve coils have stopped opening. Weak coils are common and are replaced as a set. We shut off the gas before working and leak-check anything we disturb.
