Amana Dryer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Amana and are not one of its service centers. A dryer still covered by the Amana warranty belongs with Amana first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Dryer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside an Amana dryer

Amana dryers are built on the Whirlpool 29-inch platform, one of the most familiar dryer designs. Heat is controlled by a thermal fuse, a high-limit thermostat and a cycling thermostat. Electric models use a heating element; gas versions light with a glow bar and feed the burner through two valve coils. The drum rides on rear rollers and front glides, and it is turned by a belt kept tight by an idler pulley. A squeal or thump is usually a roller or the pulley. No heat is often a blown thermal fuse from a restricted vent. In older houses, long vent runs through basement joists and exterior hoods that clog or frost in winter are common causes.

Parts that tend to fail on Amana dryers

  • Thermal fuse blown by restricted vent
  • Heating element open
  • Gas valve coils weak
  • Drum roller or idler pulley worn
  • Belt broken

Symptoms that aren't specific to one maker are covered on our dryer repair page.

FAQ

Amana Dryer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Start with the thermal fuse; when it has blown, a choked vent is almost always behind it. We check the vent, then the fuse, thermostats and either the element or the gas igniter and coils.

Usually yes. Worn drum rollers, a worn idler pulley or a stretched belt are inexpensive parts on this platform. We replace the worn parts and check the rest of the drive.
