Electrolux Dryer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Electrolux and are not one of its service centers. A dryer still covered by the Electrolux warranty belongs with Electrolux first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Dryer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Electrolux builds its dryers

Electrolux dryers are vented, electric or gas, often with a steam option. Gas models, common in Pittsburgh houses with gas service in the basement, use a glow igniter and valve coils, and weak coils cause a dryer that heats at first then goes cold. Electric models use a heating element with a high-limit thermostat and thermal fuse. Every dryer depends on the vent: long runs through a basement wall, crushed foil ducts and lint-filled exterior hoods trip the fuse and dry slowly. On steam models there's also a water valve, plus a nozzle that mineral deposits can close off. We test airflow before replacing heat parts.

Parts that tend to fail on Electrolux dryers

  • Gas valve coils weak
  • Thermal fuse blown from lint
  • Heating element open circuit
  • Drum rollers squeaking
  • Moisture sensor dirty

Symptoms that aren't specific to one maker are covered on our dryer repair page.

FAQ

Electrolux Dryer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Weak gas valve coils are a common cause: the igniter lights the burner, then the coils fail when they warm up and the flame won't relight. A blocked vent can also trip a limit thermostat. We test both.

Restricted airflow is the most common reason. Lint in the vent, a crushed duct or a blocked exterior flap slows drying. A dirty moisture sensor can also end cycles early. We check the vent first.
