Speed Queen Dryer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Speed Queen and are not one of its service centers. A dryer still covered by the Speed Queen warranty belongs with Speed Queen first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Dryer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Speed Queen builds its dryers

Speed Queen dryers use heavy steel drums driven by a belt, with gas or electric heat. When a dryer runs but won't heat, we check the vent first, since a blocked vent overheats the dryer and trips a thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat. On electric models, the heating element and cycling thermostat are the next suspects; on gas models, the igniter, flame sensor and gas valve coils. Noise usually comes from worn drum supports or an idler. In basements, long or crushed vent runs are common and hurt drying performance, and we'll point that out.

Parts that tend to fail on Speed Queen dryers

  • Thermal fuse tripped by a blocked vent
  • Electric heating element failed
  • Gas igniter or valve coils not working
  • Drive belt broken
  • Door switch not detecting a closed door

FAQ

Speed Queen Dryer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Make sure the vent isn't blocked, then have the thermal fuse and heat source tested. A blocked vent is a common reason fuses blow.

A long, kinked or clogged vent is the most common reason. Check the lint screen and vent run before assuming a part has failed.
