LG Dryer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with LG and are not one of its service centers. A dryer still covered by the LG warranty belongs with LG first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Dryer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How LG builds its dryers

Many LG dryers watch their own exhaust, and Flow Sense models warn with d80, d90 or d95 as the vent becomes more restricted. That warning is worth taking seriously: a clogged vent raises the temperature at the heater and eventually opens the thermal fuse. LG electric dryers have a heater housing at the back with a high-limit thermostat and fuse, while gas models use an igniter and coils on the gas valve. tE1 or tE2 point to a thermistor problem. Drum rollers and the idler pulley cause most of the noise complaints. In older homes with long vent runs through a basement or crawlspace, the fix for slow drying is often the vent, not the dryer.

Parts that tend to fail on LG dryers

  • Vent restriction warnings (d80–d95)
  • Thermal fuse opened from overheating
  • Heating element burned through
  • Thermistor fault (tE1/tE2)
  • Drum rollers worn and thumping

FAQ

LG Dryer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

No. It's a warning that exhaust airflow is badly restricted. Clean the lint filter and its housing, and check the vent hose and outside hood. If the warning continues, the vent run needs cleaning or shortening. Ignoring it leads to a blown thermal fuse.

Weak gas valve coils are a common cause. The igniter lights the first time but the valve doesn't reopen once the coils warm up. We also check the flame sensor and airflow before replacing the coils.
