Vulcan Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
Vulcan ranges and ovens are built for long hours in commercial kitchens, and most of what goes wrong with them is ordinary wear: pilots, thermocouples, thermostats, burners and fans. We repair Vulcan equipment independently, not as a factory-authorized agent, so equipment still under warranty should go through Vulcan or the dealer first.
How a Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

Vulcan Products We Service
Part of ITW's food equipment family
Vulcan is part of ITW Food Equipment Group, alongside Hobart and other commercial kitchen brands. It builds restaurant ranges, convection ovens, griddles, charbroilers, fryers and steamers.
In Pittsburgh you find Vulcan equipment in restaurants, diners, bars with kitchens, school and church kitchens, and catering operations. Some older equipment has been in the same kitchen for many years.
Pilots, thermocouples and thermostats
Many Vulcan ranges use standing pilots for the burners and a pilot with a thermocouple and safety valve for the oven. When a pilot keeps going out, the cause is usually a clogged pilot orifice, a draft or a worn thermocouple. Mechanical oven thermostats drift over time and can be recalibrated or replaced.
Convection ovens add a blower motor, door switches and an ignition or pilot system. A blower that won't run stops the oven, and a failed door switch can keep the fan from starting.
Scheduling around service
A range or oven down in a busy kitchen affects the whole menu. We tell you whether the repair can be made with the rest of the line running and how long the part is likely to take. Grease and carbon buildup cause many failures, so we point out cleaning that would help prevent the next call.
Commercial equipment in a home
Some people install a commercial range at home. Commercial equipment typically needs specific clearances, ventilation and gas supply, and it may not be approved for residential use. We focus on Vulcan equipment in commercial kitchens.
Vulcan, product by product
- Ovens: Convection ovens and the ovens in Vulcan ranges. Common calls: pilot or ignition failures, thermostat drift, blower motor faults and door switches.
- Cooktops: Griddles and hot tops. Calls usually involve uneven heat, pilots going out and thermostat problems.
- Stoves: Open-burner range tops. Common complaints: pilots going out, clogged burner ports and weak flame.
- Ranges: Restaurant ranges with open burners, griddles and ovens. Typical repairs: pilots, thermocouples, safety valves, thermostats and oven doors.
Getting Vulcan parts
Vulcan parts are available through commercial foodservice parts distributors. Thermocouples, pilots, burners, thermostats and blower motors are widely available. Some parts for older models have been superseded. We confirm by model and serial number and tell you the likely wait.
