Vulcan Stove Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

How Vulcan builds its stoves
The open-burner tops on Vulcan ranges typically light from standing pilots, each serving one or two burners through a flash tube. If a pilot goes out, its burners won't light when the valve is opened. Pilots fail from clogged orifices, from drafts off the hood or a nearby door, and from grease that drips into the pilot opening. Burner heads collect grease and carbon over time, giving a weak, lazy or yellow flame. The air shutter at each burner sets the gas-air mix, and if it's knocked out of position, the flame changes too. We clean pilots and burner heads, adjust the shutters and check gas pressure when the flame still looks wrong.

Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
On most open-burner tops, the pilot for that burner is out or clogged. We clean the pilot orifice, relight it and check that the flame reaches the burner.
A yellow, lazy flame usually means the air shutter needs adjustment or the burner ports are dirty. We clean the burner and set the shutter for a steady blue flame.
