What's inside an Admiral oven
The oven side of an Admiral range is basic, and that keeps repairs direct. Electric models use a bake element on the floor or under a hidden panel, a broil element at the top, and a sensor probe on the back wall that tells the control what the cavity temperature is. Gas models use a glow-bar igniter that has to draw enough current to open the oven valve, so a weak igniter glows but the gas never comes on. Door hinges and springs wear, letting the door drop open and leak heat. Most faults can be pinned down with a meter in a few minutes, so a new control board is rarely the first part we reach for.
Parts that tend to fail on Admiral ovens
- Bake element burned through
- Glow-bar igniter too weak
- Oven temperature sensor drifting
- Broil element open
- Door hinge or spring broken

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
The igniter probably no longer draws enough current to open the gas valve. It still looks fine to the eye. We measure the current and replace the igniter if it falls short, which is a routine repair.
Many electronic controls allow an offset adjustment. We first check the temperature sensor's resistance, because a failing sensor should be replaced rather than calibrated around.
