Kenmore Oven Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Kenmore and are not one of its service centers. A oven still covered by the Kenmore warranty belongs with Kenmore first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How an Oven Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside a Kenmore oven

Kenmore ovens are mostly inside freestanding and slide-in ranges, with some wall ovens, and many of them were built by Frigidaire, though not all. In a gas oven, the usual no-heat fault is a hot-surface igniter that has weakened enough to glow without opening the safety valve. In an electric oven, bake elements that split or bubble are common, as is a broil element that does not glow. Electronic models rely on an oven sensor that can drift, which causes burned or undercooked food. Self-cleaning ovens can leave the door lock stuck after a cycle, or a control that fails from the heat of self-clean. The prefix identifies the builder and the parts.

Parts that tend to fail on Kenmore ovens

  • Gas oven igniter weak
  • Bake element broken
  • Oven sensor drifting
  • Door lock stuck after self-clean
  • Broil element not heating

FAQ

Kenmore Oven: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Most often the igniter has worn. The glow looks normal, but the current through it has dropped below what the valve needs to open promptly. We measure it before replacing it.

Let the oven cool fully first. If it still will not unlock, the door lock motor, switch or control may have failed. We test those parts and replace the one that is faulty.
