Avanti Oven Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Avanti and are not one of its service centers. A oven still covered by the Avanti warranty belongs with Avanti first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How an Oven Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside an Avanti oven

The oven in an Avanti apartment range is compact, and its parts are simpler than on a full-size model. Gas versions light the oven burner with a hot-surface igniter that opens the gas valve once it draws enough current; a weakening igniter glows but never lights the burner. Some models use a mechanical thermostat with a capillary bulb instead of an electronic control, so a slow or runaway oven can be the bulb, not a board. Electric versions have exposed bake and broil elements that blister and burn open. Door hinges and gaskets get hard use in rentals and let heat leak out, which the owner notices as uneven baking.

Parts that tend to fail on Avanti ovens

  • Oven igniter too weak to light
  • Bake element burned through
  • Thermostat bulb out of position
  • Door gasket gapped at corners
  • Broil element not heating

Symptoms that aren't specific to one maker are covered on our oven repair page.

FAQ

Avanti Oven: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

That is the classic sign of an igniter that has weakened with age. It still glows but no longer draws the current needed to open the gas valve. We measure the draw, and if it is low, replace the igniter. The valve itself is rarely the cause.

Compact cavities have little room for air to move, so a sagging door gasket, a blocked vent or an element with a weak spot shows up quickly. We check the gasket, the element and the actual temperature with a thermometer before suggesting any part.
