Blomberg Freezer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Blomberg and are not one of its service centers. A freezer still covered by the Blomberg warranty belongs with Blomberg first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Freezer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Blomberg builds its freezers

Most Blomberg freezer calls involve the bottom-freezer drawer of a counter-depth refrigerator, though the brand has also sold standalone freezers. Freezer drawers take a beating: the slides and rails carry heavy loads, and a drawer that's forced over an obstruction bends its track and stops sealing. Any gap at the gasket admits room air, and its moisture becomes frost on the packages and the coil. The coil itself is defrosted automatically by a heater, with a thermostat and a control or timer deciding when. If any of those fail, frost grows until the fan can't move air. A freezer in a cold garage or basement may also misbehave if the room falls outside its rated range.

Parts that tend to fail on Blomberg freezers

  • Drawer rail bent, not sealing
  • Frost on packages from open drawer
  • Defrost heater burned open
  • Freezer fan blocked by ice
  • Drawer gasket split

Symptoms that aren't specific to one maker are covered on our freezer repair page.

FAQ

Blomberg Freezer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Usually. Check first that nothing is caught behind the basket. If the drawer still stops short, a rail is often bent or a roller broken. We replace the rail or slide set and make sure the gasket seals across the full face of the drawer.

Frost on the food usually means air is getting in through a door or drawer that doesn't seal. Frost across the rear panel means the defrost system isn't clearing the coil. We check the seal and then test the heater, thermostat and control.
