Electrolux Freezer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Electrolux and are not one of its service centers. A freezer still covered by the Electrolux warranty belongs with Electrolux first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Freezer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Electrolux builds its freezers

Electrolux freezers include ICON all-freezer columns and upright freezers, both frost-free. That means a defrost heater, sensor and control on the evaporator coil and a fan that circulates air. A defrost failure leads to a coil packed with frost and a freezer that slowly warms. Door seals matter a great deal; an upright left open slightly or a torn gasket lets moisture in. Many upright freezers end up in basements or garages. An unheated garage in a Pittsburgh winter can drop below the range the freezer was designed for, so check the manual's ambient range before assuming it has failed.

Parts that tend to fail on Electrolux freezers

  • Defrost heater not working
  • Evaporator fan motor failing
  • Gasket torn or not sealing
  • Ice maker not dropping ice
  • Temperature control failing

FAQ

Electrolux Freezer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Maybe not. Freezers are rated for a range of room temperatures, and a cold garage can confuse the controls. Check the manual's ambient temperature range. If the freezer is within it and still warm, we check the defrost system and fans.

Frost on the back panel suggests the defrost system has failed or that humid air is getting in through the door seal. We check the gasket, then the heater, sensor and control.
