Viking Freezer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Viking and are not one of its service centers. A freezer still covered by the Viking warranty belongs with Viking first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Freezer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Viking builds its freezers

Freezer trouble in a Viking built-in tends to show up as frost building on the back wall, soft ice cream, or ice cubes fused together. Those point toward defrost: the heater, the bimetal thermostat or the control that runs the defrost cycle. An evaporator fan that has stopped also leaves the freezer warm while the compressor keeps running. Freezer drawers on bottom-mount models carry heavy baskets, and worn slides let the drawer close out of square, leaving a gap in the gasket that adds more frost. The ice maker and its fill line sit in this section too, and a leak there can freeze into a sheet on the floor of the compartment.

Parts that tend to fail on Viking freezers

  • Defrost heater or thermostat failed
  • Evaporator fan motor stopped
  • Freezer drawer slides worn
  • Gasket gap letting in moisture
  • Fill line leaking and freezing

FAQ

Viking Freezer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

A defrost fault or a door or drawer that is not sealing are the usual reasons. We check the gasket contact and the drawer alignment, then test the defrost heater, thermostat and control.

On many built-ins the freezer has its own evaporator and fan, so we look there first: whether the fan runs and whether the coil is frosted solid. The condenser and sealed system are checked after that.
