Fisher & Paykel Freezer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
We have no affiliation with Fisher & Paykel and are not one of its service centers. A freezer still covered by the Fisher & Paykel warranty belongs with Fisher & Paykel first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.
How a Freezer Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.
How Fisher & Paykel builds its freezers
Fisher & Paykel freezers are either the bottom drawer of an ActiveSmart refrigerator or a stand-alone integrated column. Both are frost-free, with a heater on the evaporator, a sensor that tells the control when the coil is clear, and a fan pushing cold air across it. If the heater or sensor fails, frost builds until the fan can't move air and the freezer warms, often with the fan blades scraping on ice. Ice makers are the other frequent complaint: nothing in the bin because of a frozen fill tube, a failed valve or a module that won't cycle. On drawer models, the runners and seal rail matter as well, because a drawer that shuts crooked never seals properly.
Parts that tend to fail on Fisher & Paykel freezers
- Defrost heater or sensor failed
- Evaporator fan hitting ice
- Ice maker fill tube frozen
- Drawer runners worn, drawer not sealing
- Water inlet valve not opening
Symptoms that aren't specific to one maker are covered on our freezer repair page.

Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Usually the evaporator fan blades catching on ice that has built up behind the rear panel, which points to a defrost fault. The fan may be fine once the ice is gone, but the heater, sensor or control that let the ice form needs testing.
If the water line runs along an exterior wall or through a cold basement, it can freeze in a hard winter. A valve that drips can also freeze the fill tube inside the freezer. We find where the water stops and whether the line needs protecting or rerouting.
