Turbo Air Freezer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Turbo Air and are not one of its service centers. A freezer still covered by the Turbo Air warranty belongs with Turbo Air first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Freezer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Turbo Air builds its freezers

A Turbo Air freezer runs defrost cycles on a schedule set by its controller, using a heater on the evaporator coil and a sensor that ends defrost once the coil is clear. When any of those fail, frost builds until the coil blocks airflow and the cabinet warms. That's the most common reason a Turbo Air freezer can't hold temperature. The condenser matters too, since a clogged coil makes the compressor run longer and harder. Door gaskets and a door that doesn't close by itself let in humid air, which speeds frost buildup. We check the coil, defrost parts, gaskets and condenser before looking at refrigerant.

Parts that tend to fail on Turbo Air freezers

  • Evaporator coil blocked with ice
  • Defrost heater or termination sensor failed
  • Evaporator fan stopped
  • Condenser too dirty to reject heat
  • Door not closing on its own

The general freezer repair guide covers faults that turn up on every make.

FAQ

Turbo Air Freezer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Either warm air is getting in past the door or the defrost system isn't clearing the coil. We check the gasket and door closure, then test the defrost heater, sensor and controller.

Possibly, but a blocked coil, stopped fan or dirty condenser is more common. We rule those out before testing the refrigerant system.
