Insignia Freezer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Insignia and are not one of its service centers. A freezer still covered by the Insignia warranty belongs with Insignia first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Freezer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside an Insignia freezer

Insignia freezers come as chest models and uprights, and they're popular for extra storage in basements, garages and utility rooms. Chest freezers typically have condenser tubing inside the cabinet walls, a mechanical thermostat and a simple compressor circuit with no fan inside, and they're defrosted by hand. Uprights may be frost-free with a defrost heater and fan, or manual with refrigerated shelves. Most chest-freezer faults come down to the thermostat, the start relay, or a lid seal that lets in damp air and builds heavy frost. A garage freezer that drops below its rated ambient range in winter may stop running properly, and that isn't a part failure.

Parts that tend to fail on Insignia freezers

  • Thermostat failed
  • Start relay or overload failed
  • Lid gasket letting in moisture
  • Defrost heater failed on frost-free upright
  • Unit outside rated room temperature

Symptoms that aren't specific to one maker are covered on our freezer repair page.

FAQ

Insignia Freezer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Yes. The condenser tubing runs through the walls to get rid of heat. As long as the inside stays frozen, warm sides are normal.

Maybe not. Check the manual's ambient temperature range, because some freezers aren't built to run in a very cold garage. If it's within range and still not freezing, we'll test it.
