Frigidaire Freezer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Frigidaire and are not one of its service centers. A freezer still covered by the Frigidaire warranty belongs with Frigidaire first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Freezer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Frigidaire builds its freezers

Frigidaire makes a lot of upright and chest freezers, and many of them spend their lives in basements, garages and back porches. Manual-defrost chest freezers are simple: a compressor, a condenser and a thermostat. Frost-free uprights add a defrost heater, thermostat and timer or control, which can fail and let frost block airflow. Some models are sold as Garage Ready, built for wider temperature swings; others are designed for heated rooms and may not run correctly in a cold garage in winter. A compressor that clicks without starting often needs a start relay. Door gaskets tear and let in moisture.

Parts that tend to fail on Frigidaire freezers

  • Start relay clicking
  • Defrost heater failed on a frost-free upright
  • Thermostat not cycling
  • Door gasket torn
  • Evaporator fan stopped

Symptoms that aren't specific to one maker are covered on our freezer repair page.

FAQ

Frigidaire Freezer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Maybe not. Many freezers aren't designed for cold spaces, and they can stop running when the room is too cold. Check if your model is Garage Ready. If it is, or the room is warm, we test the thermostat and compressor.

Manual-defrost chest freezers need defrosting when frost builds up. Unplug it, remove food, and let it melt. A frost-free upright shouldn't need manual defrosting; if it frosts heavily, the defrost system may have failed.
