Miele Freezer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Miele and are not one of its service centers. A freezer still covered by the Miele warranty belongs with Miele first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Freezer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Miele builds its freezers

Miele freezers in American kitchens are mostly built-ins: full-height freezer columns paired with a refrigerator column, and freezer drawers under a counter. Both are frost-free, so an evaporator coil, a fan, a defrost heater and a sensor all have to work together; if the heater or its sensor quits, frost grows over the coil until air stops moving and the freezer slowly warms while the compressor keeps running. Columns with an ice maker add a water valve and a fill tube that can ice over. Drawers depend on gaskets and slides that let them close fully, and a drawer left slightly open floods the cabinet with moisture. Reading the frost on the coil tells us which of these happened.

Parts that tend to fail on Miele freezers

  • Defrost heater or sensor failed
  • Evaporator coil iced solid
  • Ice maker fill tube frozen
  • Drawer gasket not closing fully
  • Evaporator fan blade hitting ice

FAQ

Miele Freezer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

When the compressor hums along and the cabinet is still warm, it usually means the air isn't getting past the coil. Frost from a failed defrost cycle or a stopped fan is the common cause. We remove the rear panel, look at the coil and test the heater, sensor and fan.

Moist room air getting in, most often through a gasket that has hardened or a drawer that isn't closing all the way because a slide is sticking or something is in the way. We check the seal and the slides before looking at the cooling system.
