LG Freezer Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with LG and are not one of its service centers. A freezer still covered by the LG warranty belongs with LG first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Freezer Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How LG builds its freezers

The freezer in an LG refrigerator houses the evaporator, the defrost heater and the fan that sends air to the fresh-food side and, on many French-door models, through a duct to the ice maker in the door. A freezer that frosts heavily at the back panel, or a fan that scrapes, usually has a defrost heater, a sensor or a board problem. The Er FF code points to the freezer fan. Ice forming at the bottom of the freezer often means the defrost drain froze. Door gaskets matter more on bottom-freezer drawers because they rely on slides and a good seal together. LG convertible freezers are less common, but they follow the same pattern.

Parts that tend to fail on LG freezers

  • Evaporator frosted from defrost failure
  • Freezer fan motor stopped (Er FF)
  • Defrost drain frozen
  • Drawer slide bent, seal gapping
  • Defrost sensor misreading

FAQ

LG Freezer: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

That's typically a defrost problem: the heater, its sensor or fuse, or the control that schedules it. The frost can also block the airflow to the fresh-food side. We test the defrost parts and melt the ice so the fans can move air again.

Sometimes. It can also be ice on the drawer track, a bent slide rail or a basket out of place. We check the track and the seal together so it closes flat.
