JennAir Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with JennAir and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the JennAir warranty belongs with JennAir first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How JennAir builds its microwaves

JennAir microwaves come as built-in units, over-the-range models, microwave drawers and speed ovens that combine microwave cooking with convection. Each has the same high-voltage section: magnetron, diode, capacitor and transformer, protected by door interlock switches. Drawer models add a motorized mechanism that opens and closes the drawer, with a motor, gears and rails that can jam with crumbs or simply wear. Speed ovens run hotter and add a convection element and fan, which puts more stress on the cooling fan and controls. Over-the-range units also serve as the stove's vent hood, so the vent motor, damper and grease filters matter as much as the cooking side.

Parts that tend to fail on JennAir microwaves

  • Magnetron failed, no heat
  • Door interlock switch fault
  • Drawer mechanism jammed
  • Convection element or fan failed
  • Vent fan motor failing

FAQ

JennAir Microwave: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Yes. Crumbs in the rails, a worn gear or a failed motor are the common causes. We clean and inspect the mechanism and replace the part that failed.

The microwave side has its own high-voltage parts. A failed magnetron, diode or door switch can stop microwave heating while the convection side keeps working.
