JennAir Range Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with JennAir and are not one of its service centers. A range still covered by the JennAir warranty belongs with JennAir first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Range Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How JennAir builds its ranges

JennAir's current ranges include pro-style gas, dual-fuel and induction models up to 48 inches wide, with large convection ovens and electronic controls. On gas tops, spark modules, electrodes and knob switches cause the familiar clicking and no-light faults. Dual-fuel ovens rely on elements, a convection fan and a temperature sensor read by the control, while all-gas ovens use igniters and safety valves. Induction ranges add power boards and cooling fans. Some recent models have connected controls, and the electronics on any range can be damaged by a surge when power returns after a storm. We test each system before replacing a board, because boards are sometimes blamed for a fault that lives elsewhere.

Parts that tend to fail on JennAir ranges

  • Spark module or electrode fault
  • Oven igniter or element failed
  • Convection fan motor failed
  • Temperature sensor fault
  • Control board damaged by surge

The general range repair guide covers faults that turn up on every make.

FAQ

JennAir Range: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Usually a wet or dirty electrode, a cap out of line or blocked ports. Let it dry and clean the ports. If it still won't light, the spark module or a switch may be at fault.

Possibly. A surge can damage a board or trip protective parts. We check the power supply, fuses and board, and ask whether anything else in the house was affected.
