AGA Range Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with AGA and are not one of its service centers. A range still covered by the AGA warranty belongs with AGA first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Range Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How AGA builds its ranges

AGA range cookers work much like other European ranges: a wide cabinet with two or three oven cavities, often a fan oven, a conventional oven and a grill, and a gas, dual-fuel or induction top. Fan ovens use a circular element behind a rear panel with a motor-driven fan, and when either fails the oven heats slowly or unevenly. Gas hobs use spark ignition and flame-failure devices that shut the gas off if the flame goes out. Induction models add power boards and cooling fans. The ranges are heavy, and moving one out needs care with the floor and the gas or electric connection.

Parts that tend to fail on AGA ranges

  • Fan oven element burned out
  • Convection fan motor noisy
  • Spark ignition clicking constantly
  • Oven thermostat reading high
  • Door glass or hinge damaged

AGA Range: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Many European gas hobs have a flame-failure device, a small thermocouple that must heat up to keep the valve open. If it's dirty, misaligned or failing, the burner won't stay lit. We clean, align and test it.

A failed fan element or a slow fan motor is common. We check the element's resistance and watch the fan, then compare the cavity temperature to the setting before replacing anything.
