GE Appliances Stove Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
We have no affiliation with GE Appliances and are not one of its service centers. A stove still covered by the GE Appliances warranty belongs with GE Appliances first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.
How a Stove Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.
How GE Appliances builds its stoves
The freestanding GE stove is found in older kitchens and rentals everywhere. On gas versions the usual repair is the bake igniter: it glows orange yet never pulls enough current for the valve to open. Electric models use coil or smooth-top surface elements and a bake element in the oven, and a burned receptacle stops a coil burner from working. The oven sensor, bake element and door hinges round out the list. In older homes, we also check the gas connector, shutoff valve and power cord when we pull the stove out, and we leak-test any gas fittings we touch.
Parts that tend to fail on GE Appliances stoves
- Bake igniter too weak
- Coil receptacle burned
- Bake element burned out
- Oven sensor out of range
- Surface burner switch failed
The general stove repair guide covers faults that turn up on every make.
GE Appliances Stove: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Most likely. A glowing igniter with no flame means it's too tired to trigger the safety valve. We confirm with a current reading before replacing it.
Usually, for igniters, elements, switches and sensors. These are simple, widely stocked parts. If the stove has multiple failures or a discontinued control, we'll tell you.
