Maytag Stove Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
We have no affiliation with Maytag and are not one of its service centers. A stove still covered by the Maytag warranty belongs with Maytag first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.
How a Stove Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.
How Maytag builds its stoves
The classic freestanding Maytag stove with controls on the back panel is still common in older kitchens and rentals. On gas models the oven lights with a hot-surface igniter that must pass a minimum current before the safety valve will open, so a weak igniter glows but the oven never heats. That is the single most common gas stove repair. Electric models lose bake and broil elements, and a surface element that works intermittently often has a scorched receptacle underneath. In older homes, check the supply first: a loose or worn range outlet can cause strange electric faults, and a gas stove still needs a working outlet for its igniter and clock.
Parts that tend to fail on Maytag stoves
- Weak oven igniter, glow but no flame
- Bake element blistered and open
- Surface element receptacle burned
- Infinite switch failing on one burner
- Oven temperature running hot or cold

Maytag Stove: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
The burners light by spark, but the oven uses a hot-surface igniter. An aging igniter still glows but can't pull the amperage the valve waits for. We check it with a meter and replace it if it reads low.
The socket under the coil is the usual culprit; its contacts pit and scorch over time. The coil and receptacle are usually replaced together so the new element gets a solid connection.
