Avanti Stove Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Avanti and are not one of its service centers. A stove still covered by the Avanti warranty belongs with Avanti first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Stove Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside an Avanti stove

In Pittsburgh's older divided houses and small apartments, an Avanti stove is often the only cooking appliance in the unit, so it gets used hard by a changing cast of tenants. The complaints are practical: a burner that clicks and won't catch, an oven that heats slowly, a knob that spins without turning the valve, a door that won't shut straight. On gas models we check ignition, burner ports and the oven igniter. On electric models we test the coils, their sockets and the infinite switches. We also look at the connection: an older gas flex line or a 240-volt cord that has been pushed and pulled during move-outs deserves inspection.

Parts that tend to fail on Avanti stoves

  • Knob stripped and spinning freely
  • Burner igniter clicking without flame
  • Oven heating slowly on gas
  • Surface coil socket burned
  • Oven door not closing square

FAQ

Avanti Stove: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Yes. Usually the knob's D-shaped socket has worn, and a new knob matched to the model solves it. If the valve or switch stem itself has broken, that part is replaced instead. We check which one it is before ordering.

A quick whiff when a burner lights is normal. A steady smell with every knob off is not. Turn the knobs off, don't flip switches, ventilate, leave and call your gas utility from outside. After they clear it, we can repair the stove and test any fitting we touch.
