Roper Stove Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

How a Stove Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.
What's inside a Roper stove
Most Roper stoves are simple freestanding ranges, and the stovetop takes the most use. Coil-element models run each burner through an infinite switch, which cycles power to hold a heat setting. When a switch fails, the burner either won't heat or won't turn down. Burned receptacles are the other frequent failure. Gas stoves use sealed burners with spark igniters and a spark module, and moisture or spills often cause problems. We check each component in turn, since a working element in a burned receptacle can look like a dead switch.
Parts that tend to fail on Roper stoves
- Burner won't turn down from high
- Coil element dead
- Receptacle scorched or loose
- Spark module clicking constantly
- Burner cap misaligned, uneven flame

Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
The infinite switch that controls that burner has likely failed. Replacing the switch usually fixes it.
Elements, switches and igniters are inexpensive, so most stovetop repairs are worth doing. We'll tell you if a larger repair isn't.
