Thermador Refrigerator Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
We have no affiliation with Thermador and are not one of its service centers. A refrigerator still covered by the Thermador warranty belongs with Thermador first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.
How a Refrigerator Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

How Thermador builds its refrigerators
Most Thermador refrigerators we open are built-ins: Freedom columns with fully integrated doors, or wider bottom-freezer and French-door models set flush with the cabinets. Compressors and sealed systems sit at the top or bottom behind a grille, and cooling depends on clean condenser coils and a clear air path through that grille. Panel-ready doors carry heavy wood fronts, so hinges and door closers wear and doors stop sealing. Columns have their own control boards and ice makers with water valves plumbed through the cabinet. When a column warms up, we check condenser airflow and the evaporator fan first, then defrost, before looking at the sealed system.
Parts that tend to fail on Thermador refrigerators
- Condenser coils clogged with dust
- Evaporator fan motor stopped
- Heavy panel door not sealing
- Ice maker not filling
- Defrost sensor or heater failure

Thermador Refrigerator: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Power to the controls doesn't mean the cooling system is running. A blocked condenser, a stopped evaporator fan or a defrost failure that has iced the coil are all common. We check airflow and temperatures at the coil before looking at the compressor or board.
The custom panel adds weight, and over time the hinge and closer mechanism weaken or the door drops out of adjustment. We re-level the door, adjust the hinge and replace the closer if it has failed, which usually restores the seal.
