Thermador Cooktop Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Thermador and are not one of its service centers. A cooktop still covered by the Thermador warranty belongs with Thermador first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Thermador builds its cooktops

Thermador sells gas cooktops and rangetops with its star-shaped burners, and induction cooktops including the Freedom Induction design, which detects pans anywhere on the surface. Gas units share the range problems: spark switches, igniters and the ExtraLow cycling some owners mistake for a fault. On induction, the electronics and fan beneath the glass need air from the cabinet below. Rangetops install on a base cabinet with a gas line and often a separate electrical feed for ignition. We confirm fuel type and model before the visit so we arrive ready for the right checks.

Parts that tend to fail on Thermador cooktops

  • Continuous clicking after a spill
  • Star burner with uneven flame
  • Induction pan detection failure
  • Cooling fan under glass failing
  • Cracked glass surface

FAQ

Thermador Cooktop: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Induction needs cookware with a magnetic base that sits flat and covers enough of the zone. If a fridge magnet grips the pan's base and the error still appears, we check the coils, the pan sensor circuit and the power board.

The points of the star each carry ports, and grease or food in one of them leaves a gap in the ring. Cleaning the burner with the cap removed usually fixes it. A burner base that isn't seated properly can do the same thing.
