Thermador Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Thermador and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the Thermador warranty belongs with Thermador first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Thermador builds its microwaves

Thermador microwaves are mostly built in: microwave drawers set below a counter, built-in units in a wall stack, and speed ovens pairing microwave power with convection. Drawer models add a motorized opening mechanism with gears, a drive belt or rack and sensors that detect the drawer position, and that mechanism is a frequent complaint. Heating faults follow the usual microwave pattern: magnetron, high-voltage diode, capacitor and door switches. Because the high-voltage circuit stores a dangerous charge, these are not do-it-yourself repairs. We confirm heating, door switch operation and the drawer drive before replacing a control.

Parts that tend to fail on Thermador microwaves

  • Drawer mechanism stalling
  • No heat from magnetron
  • Door switch failing
  • Touch panel not responding
  • Speed oven convection not heating

Symptoms that aren't specific to one maker are covered on our microwave repair page.

FAQ

Thermador Microwave: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

The drawer uses a motor, gears and position sensors. Crumbs jammed in the rails, a stripped gear or a position sensor that has quit will each leave it stuck. We check the track and drive, then the motor and control.

Yes. Running without heating usually points to the magnetron, high-voltage diode, capacitor or a door switch. We discharge the circuit safely and test each part before recommending a repair.
