How a Microwave Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.
How Blomberg builds its microwaves
Blomberg microwaves are sold to pair with its ovens and ranges, and they fail the way most microwaves do. If the light and turntable work but food stays cold, the high-voltage circuit is at fault: magnetron, diode, capacitor or transformer. If the unit is completely dead, the main fuse has likely blown, often because a door interlock switch failed and shorted the line. Arcing inside usually starts with a damaged waveguide cover or chipped cavity paint. Built-in models are held in a trim kit, which has to come out for service. A microwave's capacitor can hold a dangerous charge after unplugging, so this is a job for a trained technician.
Parts that tend to fail on Blomberg microwaves
- Magnetron not producing heat
- Main fuse blown, no display
- Door interlock switch failed
- Waveguide cover arcing
- Keypad not responding

Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Usually, yes. We test the magnetron, diode, capacitor and transformer to find the failed part, then quote it. On a built-in unit a repair is often worth it, since replacement means matching the trim kit or opening.
The door interlock switches may have failed, which often blows the main fuse. We test all the interlocks and the fuse, since replacing only the fuse can leave the cause in place.
