Smeg Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Smeg and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the Smeg warranty belongs with Smeg first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Smeg builds its microwaves

Smeg built-in microwaves and combination microwave ovens are set into cabinetry or stacked in a wall with an oven. Combination models add a heating element and a convection fan to the usual microwave parts, so a unit that heats in microwave mode but not in convection mode has a different fault than one that won't heat at all. On the microwave side, no-heat calls lead to the magnetron, high-voltage diode, capacitor or transformer. Door interlock switches and the control board fail as well. The capacitor stays charged at a lethal level even with the cord pulled, so we discharge it before testing anything, and we check parts availability before quoting.

Parts that tend to fail on Smeg microwaves

  • No heat in microwave mode
  • Convection mode not heating
  • Door switch failure
  • Control panel not responding
  • Interior light out

FAQ

Smeg Microwave: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

The heating element or convection fan is likely at fault, not the microwave parts. We test the element and fan.

Some repairs need it pulled from the cabinet. We'll tell you before removing it.
