LG Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with LG and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the LG warranty belongs with LG first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How LG builds its microwaves

Many LG microwaves drive the magnetron from an inverter board in place of the heavy transformer, which gives steadier low-power cooking but moves the high-voltage fault to an inverter board. Other models keep the traditional transformer, capacitor, diode and magnetron. Over-the-range LG units also act as the range hood, so fan motors, lights and filters are part of the repair picture. A microwave that runs but doesn't heat, a door that blows the fuse, or a touchpad that stops responding are the common complaints. The capacitor or inverter can keep a dangerous charge after unplugging, so internal testing is a job for us, not a DIY project. Some combination models add convection, which means another element and fan.

Parts that tend to fail on LG microwaves

  • Magnetron or inverter board failed
  • Door switch blowing the fuse
  • Vent fan motor failed
  • Touchpad membrane not responding
  • Turntable motor stalled

The general microwave repair guide covers faults that turn up on every make.

FAQ

LG Microwave: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

A lot of over-the-range units have a heat sensor under the hood that starts the fan by itself when the burners below get hot. If it runs with the cooktop off, a sensor or control may be at fault, which we can test.

For an over-the-range model, often yes, since replacement means removing and remounting the hood. The inverter board is the key part. For a small countertop model, a new one is often the better choice.
